JAPAN AND EUROPE IN AN AGE OF GLOBALIZATION
- The Japan-Europe Conference in the Wake of September 11 -
The Japan Institute of International Affairs
July 2001
Why should Japan and Europe cooperate with each other, rather than vie for each other? How should we in Japan and Europe work together to achieve our common purposes?
These are some of the fundamental issues that the participants of the Japan-Europe Conference, intellectuals from academic, government and business communities of the two regions of the world, have been deliberating and reflecting upon since the inception of the Conference in 1989. The Conference was created to discuss the future of Japan-Europe relations in the new international environment that was opening up in the wake of the demise of the Cold War.
